PRIVACY POLICY

  1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes the types of information Sparc The World (“Sparc”, “we”, “us”, “our”) may collect from you or that you may provide when you visit www.sparc.world (“Website”), when you use the Sparc mobile applications (each, an “App”), or when you engage with any other sites or services that link to this Privacy Policy (collectively, the “Platform”), and our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting, and disclosing that information. 

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully to understand our policies and practices regarding your information and how we will treat it. This Privacy Policy may change from time to time (see Changes to Our Privacy Policy), so please check this Privacy Policy periodically for updates. 

  1. Children Under the Age of 13

Our Platform is not intended for children under 13 years of age. No one under the age 13 may provide any information to or on the Platform. We do not knowingly collect Personal Data (as defined below) from children under 13. If we learn we have collected or received Personal Data from a child under 13 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information. If you believe we might have any information directly from a child under 13, please contact us at contact@sparc.world.

  1. Information We Collect About You and How We Collect It

Throughout this Privacy Policy, the term “Personal Data” means any information that identifies, relates to, describes, references, is capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with a particular individual or device. However, Personal Data does not include any anonymous or aggregated information. 

We collect Personal Data from various sources, including:

  • directly from you when you provide it to us;
  • automatically as you navigate through the Platform; and
  • other sources.

Information You Provide to Us

We collect the following types of Personal Data directly from you when you access or use our Platform:

  • Contact and account information such as your first and last name, email address, telephone number, account name, and password.
  • Profile information such as your title, employment history, education, age, date of birth.
  • Demographic information such as your race, national origin, and sexual orientation.
  • Information that you provide, post, or upload to our Platform, such as your profile picture, resume, or other information you provide when you fill out a job application on our Platform.
  • Communications that we exchange with you and that you exchange with other members on the Platform, including records and copies of your correspondence with us, your responses to surveys that we may ask you to complete for research purposes, and video chats between you and other Platform members.
  • Payment information needed to complete your transactions with us, including name, payment card information, and billing details. This information is processed by our third party payment service providers, such as Stripe and PayPal, which may handle your payment information in accordance with their own privacy policies. We do not have access to your full payment card information.
  • Sweepstakes event details, such as the information you provide when you enter a contest or promotion sponsored by us.
  • User contributions that may be published or displayed on public areas of the Platform with your consent, including any and all images and other content that you may provide as part of your participation or interaction with our Platform.

Information We Collect Through Automatic Data Collection Technologies

As you navigate through and interact with our Platform, we may use automatic data collection technologies to collect certain Personal Data about your interaction with our Platform, including information about your equipment, browsing actions, and patterns:

  • Device data such as your computer’s or mobile device’s operating system type and version, manufacturer and model, browser type, screen resolution, device type (e.g., phone, tablet), IP address, unique identifiers (including identifiers used for advertising purposes), language settings. and general location information such as city, state, or geographic area.
  • Online activity data such as pages or screens you viewed, how long you spent on a page or screen, the website you visited before browsing to the Website, navigation paths between pages or screens, information about your activity on a page or screen, access times, duration of access, and whether you have opened or otherwise engage with our communications, such as our marketing emails or clicked links or files within them.

The information we collect automatically may include Personal Data, or we may maintain it or associate it with Personal Data we collect in other ways or receive from third parties. The collection of this information helps us to improve our Platform and to deliver a better and more personalized service by enabling us to:

  • estimate our audience size and usage patterns;
  • store information about your preferences;
  • customize our Platform according to your individual interests;
  • speed up your searches; and
  • recognize you when you return to our Platform.

The technologies we use for this automatic data collection may include:

  • Cookies. A cookie is a small file placed on the hard drive of your computer. Our Platform may use both session cookies (which expire once you close your browser) and persistent cookies (which stay on your computer until you delete them) to provide you with a more personal and interactive experience on our Platform. For example, each time you access the Platform, a session cookie containing an encrypted, unique identifier is placed on your browser to allow us to uniquely identify you when you use the Platform and track which pages of the Platform you access.

Unless you have adjusted your browser setting so that it will refuse cookies, our system will issue cookies when you direct your browser to our Platform. You can set your browser to refuse all or some browser cookies, or to alert you when cookies are being sent. However, if you do not consent to our use of cookies or select this setting you may be unable to access certain parts of our Platform.   • Web beacons, also known as pixel tags or clear GIFs, which are used to demonstrate that a webpage or email was accessed or opened, or that certain content was viewed or clicked.

Third-Party Cookies 

Some content or applications, including advertisements, on the Platform are served by third-parties, including advertisers, ad networks and servers, content providers, analytics providers, social media companies, and application providers. These third parties may use cookies alone or in conjunction with web beacons or other tracking technologies to collect information about you when you use our Platform. The information they collect may be associated with your Personal Data or they may collect information, including Personal Data, about your online activities over time and across different Platform and other online services. They may use this information to provide you with interest-based (behavioral) advertising or other targeted content.

Information We Obtain From Other Sources:

  • Third-party accounts. When you log into the Platform through a third party account, such as Google, we may collect certain information from your account (e.g., name, email address, user name), depending on the privacy permissions you have configured within that account.
  • Social media information. We may maintain pages on social media platforms, such as Instagram and LinkedIn. When you visit or interact with our pages on those platforms, you or the platforms may provide us with information through the platform.
  • Other sources. We may obtain Personal Data from other third parties, such as marketing partners, publicly-available sources, and data providers.
  1. How We Use Your Information

We use the Personal Data that we collect:

  • To provide our Platform. We use Personal Data to provide, support, personalize, and develop our Platform and its content.
  • To administer upcoming events. We use Personal Data to administer upcoming events, updates, sweepstakes, promotions, and other contests.
  • To communicate with you about our Platform. We use Personal Data to provide you with information, products, or services that you request from us and to provide you with support and to respond to your inquiries.
  • To improve, monitor, personalize and protect our Platform. We use Personal Data to improve and keep our Platform safe for our users, which includes:
    • Processing your requests, purchases, transactions, and payments and prevent transactional fraud.
    • Investigating and addressing your concerns.
    • Supporting, developing, troubleshooting, and debugging our Platform, products, and services.
    • Understanding your needs and interests, and personalizing your experience with the Platform and our communications.

 

  • For research and development. We may use Personal Data for research and development purposes including for internal testing, research, analysis, and product development, including to develop and improve our Platform, and to develop, improve, or demonstrate our products and services.
  • For marketing and advertising. We, our service providers, and our third-party advertising partners may collect and use Personal Data for the following marketing and advertising purposes:

 

  • Email marketing. We or our advertising partners may from time-to-time send you direct marketing emails as permitted by law, including, but not limited to, notifying you of special promotions, offers and events via email. You may opt out of our marketing emails as described in the “Choices About How We Use and Disclose Your Information” section below.

 

  • Text message marketing. We may notify you via text message about upcoming offers, events, and other alerts you request. If you would like more information about our do-not-call policy, or how to opt out, please review the “Choices About How We Use and Disclose Your Information” section below.

 

  • Interest-based advertising. As described in the “Third-Party Cookies” section above, we engage our advertising partners, including third party advertising companies and social media companies, to display ads around the web. These companies may use cookies and similar technologies to collect information (including the automatically-collected data described above) about your interactions over time across our Platform, and use that information to serve online ads that they think will interest you.

 

  • For compliance and protection. We may use Personal Data to comply with legal obligations, and to defend us against legal claims or disputes, including to:

 

  • Protect our, your or others’ rights, privacy, safety or property (including by making and defending legal claims).
  • Audit our internal processes for compliance with legal and contractual requirements and internal policies.
  • Enforce the terms and conditions that govern the Platform.
  • Detect security incidents, protect against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activity, and prosecute those responsible for that activity.
  • Comply with applicable laws, lawful requests and legal process, such as to respond to subpoenas or requests from government authorities.

 

  1. Disclosure of Your Information[IS1]

We do not share, sell, or otherwise disclose your Personal Data for purposes other than those outlined in this Privacy Policy. However, we may disclose aggregated information about our users, and information that does not identify any individual, without restriction. 

Your profile is fully visible to all members and customers of our Platform. Subject to your settings, it can also be visible to others on or off of our Platform (e.g., visitors to our Platform or users of third-party search engines).

You may also choose to disclose your Personal Data to other members of the Platform. Please note that we do not control how any of these third parties use your information. 

We may disclose Personal Data that we collect as described in this Privacy Policy:

  • to employers seeking general resume information. Upon request, we may disclose resumes with name and contact information removed. 
  • to our subsidiaries and affiliates.
  • to service providers we use to support our business. These entities provide IT and infrastructure support services and payment processing services. Our payment processors’ privacy policies may be found at http://stripe.com/us/privacy and at https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/ua/privacy-full.
  • to a potential or actual buyer or other successor in the event of a planned or actual merger, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, or other sale or transfer of some or all of Sparc’s assets, whether as a going concern or as part of bankruptcy, liquidation, or similar proceeding, in which Personal Data held by Sparc about our Platform users is among the assets transferred.
  • to any other third-parties disclosed by us when you provide the information.
  • with your consent.

We may also disclose your Personal Data:

  • to comply with any court order, law, or legal process, including to respond to any government or regulatory request.
  • to enforce or apply our Terms of Use and other agreements, including for billing and collection purposes.
  • if we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to protect the rights, property, or safety of Sparc, our customers, or others. 
  1. Choices About How We Use and Disclose Your Information

We offer you choices on how you can opt out of our certain uses and disclosures of your Personal Data. As a general rule, you cannot opt out of our collection, use and disclosure of Personal Data to the extent it is necessary to provide the Platform or related services, features and functionality to you. 

You can opt out of receiving marketing communications at any time by contacting us as provided in the “Contact Information” section below or by following the instructions within the marketing communication you receive.

There are also a number of ways to limit online tracking, which we have summarized below:

  • Blocking cookies in your browser. Most browsers let you remove or reject cookies. To do this, follow the instructions in your browser settings. Many browsers accept cookies by default until you change your settings. For more information about cookies, including how to see what cookies have been set on your device and how to manage and delete them, visit www.allaboutcookies.org.

Use the following links to learn more about how to control cookies and online tracking through your browser:

  • Using privacy plug-ins or browsers. You can block our websites from setting cookies by using a browser with privacy features, like Brave, or installing browser plugins like Privacy Badger, Ghostery, or uBlock Origin, and configuring them to block cookies/trackers.
  • Blocking advertising ID use in your mobile settings. Your mobile device settings may provide functionality to limit use of the advertising ID associated with your mobile device for interest-based advertising purposes.

 

  • Platform opt-outs. Some advertising partners offer opt-out features that let you opt out of use of your information for interest-based advertising, such as Google.
  • Advertising industry opt-out tools. You can also use these opt-out options to limit use of your information for interest-based advertising by participating companies:

  • Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to help us better understand how people engage with the Platform by collecting information and creating reports about how users use our Platform. You can opt out of Google Analytics by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available at: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Note that because these opt out mechanisms are specific to the device or browser on which they are exercised, you will need to opt out on every browser and device that you use.

Do Not Track. Some Internet browsers may be configured to send “Do Not Track” signals to the online services that you visit. We currently do not respond to "Do Not Track" or similar signals. To find out more about "Do Not Track," please visit http://www.allaboutdnt.com.

  1. Accessing, Correcting, and Deleting Your Personal Data

You can review and change your Personal Data by logging into the Platform and visiting your account profile page.

You may also send us an email at contact@sparc.world to request access to, correct or delete any Personal Data that you have provided to us. We may not accommodate a request to change information if we believe the change would violate any law or legal requirement or cause the information to be incorrect.

If you request that we delete your user contributions from the Platform, copies of your user contributions may remain viewable in cached and archived pages, or might have been copied or stored by other Platform users. Proper access and use of information provided on the Platform, including user contributions, is governed by our Terms of Use.

8.    Data Security

We have implemented measures designed to secure your Personal Data from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of your Personal Data transmitted to our Platform.

The safety and security of your information also depends on you. Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password for access to certain parts of our Platform, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We urge you to be careful about giving out information in public areas of the Platform like message boards. The information you disclose in public areas may be viewed by any user of the Platform.

9.   Changes to Our Privacy Policy

We may change this Privacy Policy at any time. It is our policy to post any changes we make to our Privacy Policy on this page with a notice that the Privacy Policy has been updated on the Platform’s home page. If we make material changes to how we treat our users’ Personal Data, we will notify you. The date this Privacy Policy was last revised is identified at the top of the page.
