Role Description The Performance Data Scientist Intern supports the Aero Performance Analytics team in transforming complex operational and network data into actionable insights to improve ser-vice level performance for Aero customers. This role focuses on leveraging machine learn-ing, advanced analytics, and modern data engineering techniques to identify performance trends, build predictive models, and enable proactive decision-making.
The intern will contribute to improving network efficiency, customer experience, and opera-tional performance across airline and connectivity environments.
Your Responsibilities
Data Collection & Preparation
Ingest, clean, and preprocess large-scale datasets, including flight logs, network per-formance metrics, and operational data
Parse structured and unstructured data sources to ensure data quality, consistency, and usability
Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) to identify patterns, anomalies, and correla-tions
Predictive Modeling & Analytics
Develop and validate predictive models (e.g., network latency, throughput perfor-mance, service degradation)
Apply statistical analysis and machine learning techniques to forecast trends and de-tect performance issues
Continuously improving model accuracy through feature engineering and tuning
Performance Optimization & Data Visualization
Translate complex datasets into actionable recommendations for engineering and business teams
Build dashboards and visualizations to communicate insights effectively (e.g., Tab-leau, Power BI)
COMPETENCIES
Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into business insights
Solid understanding of machine learning concepts and their real-world applications
Programming: Python, R, SQL (preferred)
Data manipulation and analysis: Pandas, NumPy, or similar libraries
Machine learning frameworks: Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or equivalent (preferred)
Data visualization: Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools
Familiarity with AI and its applications is a plus
Qualifications & Experience
Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree in:
Data Science
Computer Science
Engineering
Information Technology
Or a related quantitative field
Experience working with large datasets and data processing tools
Foundational knowledge of statistical analysis and predictive modeling
Exposure to cloud platforms or data engineering concepts is a plus
Knowledge or interest in satellite communications, aviation, or telecom industries is a strong advantage
